Mechanical Operator (Night Shift) – Goldsboro, NC
 
Monroe Staffing is a division of Staffing 360 Solutions.   We are a leading staffing firm in the U.S. in the light industrial sector. 
 
We currently have an immediate full-time opening for a Mechanical Operator (Night Shift) for a large food manufacturing facility located in Goldsboro, NC.   
 
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.   Previous experience operating conveyor machines is required.   Must have math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions.   Vocational trades training is highly desirable.   North Carolina Career Readiness Certification (Bronze level or higher) is a plus.   Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Monday – Saturday (6-day schedule, May thru September)
Hours:
4:00 PM – 1:00 AM (Night Shift)
Pay Rate:     
18.90 – 19.97/Hour
 
 
Responsibilities of the Mechanical Operator:

The Mechanical Operator (Night Shift) operates the controls for the feeding line, brine pump, brine conveyor, capper conveyor, and jar washer conveyor.
Turn overturned jars upright and hand-fill them with product or liquid as needed.   Free jammed jars on conveyor line or jammed caps in chute.   Remove jars which do not conform to company specifications e.g. slack pack, foreign objects, poor quality.   Follow defined broken glass procedure as needed.
Notify the Pasteurizer Operator of any product changes, lunch, breaks, or at the end of shift by placing an empty gallon jar on conveyor line.
Removes all jars under the briner at break, lunch, or at the end of shift.   Turns off all switches at break, lunch, or end of shift.
Complete shift downtime report from briner conveyor to label machine.
Monitor product to ensure that product adheres to food safety and quality critical limits.
Dump boxes of caps as needed. 
Turn the brine pump off when necessary.
Clean the switch panels.
 
Carry reusable empty bottles to glass washer area to be rewashed for later use.
Turn in broken jars to supervisor with name of brand, number of jars lost, and amount of product discarded.
 
Participate in training, employee meetings, and project teams as needed.
Receive written instructions from packing schedule.
 
 
Qualifications for the Mechanical Operator:

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.

Machines, Equipment, Tools Used by the Mechanical Operator:

  • Capping machine
  • Conveyor 
  • Syrup pump
  • Feed-in line
  • Brine conveyor, Washer conveyor, Brine pump, and hand tools.
 
 
Physical Demands of the Mechanical Operator:

  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s).
  • Standing: Sustained periods of time.
  • Climbing: Ascending or descending short ladders/stairs to reach job site.
  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
 
 
Work Environment of the Mechanical Operator:

  • Work environment is subject to some seasonal temperature variations and wetting from job tasks. 
  • Hearing protection is required because of machinery noise. 
  • Head cover, beard cover, and gloves are required.
